Stargate International (“Stargate”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through www.stargate.tours, why we collect it, who we share it with and what your rights are under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

What we collect
When you send an enquiry through our contact form: your name, email address, cell number and your message, including the tour you are interested in.
When you register for a tour: your title, full names as per passport, maiden name, email address, mobile number, South African ID number, passport type, number, issue and expiry dates and place of issue, physical and postal addresses, occupation, the tour, tour leader and departure date you choose, your room and roommate preferences, and any special requests you give us.
Special requests can include information about your health, diet or religious practice. Please share only what we need to arrange your travel.
When you browse the site: our web server and security tools record technical information such as your IP address and browser type, to keep the site working and to block spam.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use advertising trackers on this website.
Why we use it
We use your information to:
- answer your enquiries and send you the information you asked for;
- reserve flights, accommodation, transport, entrance tickets and other services for your tour;
- arrange visas, travel insurance and other travel documents where you ask us to;
- contact you about your booking, and about changes, payments and travel updates;
- meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations;
- protect the website and our clients from fraud and spam.
We rely on your consent, on the need to carry out the contract for your tour, and on our legal obligations. If you do not give us the information we need for your booking, we may not be able to arrange your tour.
Who we share it with
We share only what each party needs to provide your travel services:
- airlines, hotels, cruise lines, coach companies, local tour guides and ground handlers;
- visa offices, embassies and border authorities, where travel documents are required;
- travel insurers, if you choose to buy cover through us;
- your tour leader, for the group you have joined;
- our website host and IT service providers, who process information on our behalf under confidentiality obligations;
- authorities, where the law requires it.
Sending information outside South Africa
Our tours take place outside South Africa, so your information is shared with service providers in the countries you will visit, such as Israel, Jordan, Turkey, Greece, Egypt and countries in Europe. We do this because it is necessary to carry out your booking, and we share only what is needed for that purpose.
How long we keep it
We keep booking records for as long as we need them for your tour and for as long as the law requires us to keep financial and tax records. Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are deleted when they are no longer needed. We then delete or de-identify your information.
How we protect it
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, including an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to this website and limited staff access to booking records. If we believe your information has been accessed without authorisation, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
Cookies and content from other websites
This website uses cookies that it needs to work, for example to remember a login or to protect forms against spam. Some pages show content from other services, such as Google Maps, YouTube and Facebook videos and feeds, and podcast players. When you view that content, those services may set their own cookies and collect information under their own privacy policies.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may:
- ask whether we hold personal information about you, and ask for a copy;
- ask us to correct or update your information;
- ask us to delete information we no longer have a lawful reason to keep;
- object to the processing of your information, and withdraw your consent at any time;
- ask us to stop sending you marketing messages.
To make a request, email info@stargateint.co.za. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa):
